The Fire Alam Works and I had clean Pajamas.
Ok so you remember when you were little and your mother said, always where clean underwear, you never know when you will be caught.
Well, it finally happened. I was cooking spaghetti and garlic bread for dinner tonight. YUM YUM. I forgot about the bread for a moment, but it didn't burn. In fact there was absolutely no smoke, no sign of burning, nothing. It was just nice and toasty with a little brown around the edges.
I took it out and the next thing I know, BEEEEEP BEEEEEP BEEEEEP BEEEEEP BEEEEEP went the fire alarm. I opened the kitchen window and turned on the fan. Then I went to the front door and I opened the door and was swooshing out the invisible smoke with the oven mitt.
I am standing in my pajama bottoms, (with Kitty cats on them, a recovery gift from my step mother) a Hard Rock- t shirt and tousled hair as I had woken up from a nap about a half hour earlier. It was perfect for an evening at home, but not to entertain guests.
I thought the smoke detector would stop when I started swooshing but it only got louder. Good thing to know it works. But it woke up my whole building.
First the neighbors across the hall opened their door. Nope, I am fine, just made garlic bread. (Of course they wanted to know if the garlic bread was ok) Then the neighbors down the hall came and then finally my upstairs neighbors came. Here I am standing in my pajamas for the whole world to see swooshing out the smoke that was not there. (yes, the PJS were clean) All you could do was smile at the situation. If I had enough garlic bread, I would have offered them some.
It is good to know that if it had been a real emergency, people would have come by. They kept asking if I was ok. Which I was. Unfortunately all these cute men came by and I look like I have been bedridden with the flu.
Hopefully, I won't be known as Pajama Garlic Bread Girl. But I am grateful, they were clean!
So ladies and gents, always wear clean underwear and pajamas, you never know when they will come in handy.
Oh and when you are making garlic bread, don't let it burn. Unless you want to bring in your cute neighbors, then go for it.
