Trick or Treats,,,,,,,, Pass the Candy
Happy Halloween. Trick or Treat. Tonight was a perfect setting. The wind howling, the fullish moon shining behind clouds sweeping swiftly in the sky. The sounds of laughter and screams running down the street. It is the biggest day of the year for ghost, goblins, and witches and of course the biggest candy day for the year. (next to Valentines Day but who is counting). But have you noticed how much chocolate cost this week? $7 for a bag. Geez. Go to any store in 2 days and it will be much cheaper. (Note to self, get candy earlier next year).
I love Halloween. It is my favorite holiday of the year. Truly! I wish everyday were Halloween. Free Candy! It is also the only day of the year where you get to be anyone you want and no one passes judgement. It is the day creativity soars, imagination flies and chocolate is found in every household. I love dressing up. I have had some creative costumes in my day. I was Miss Piggy, Princess Leia, a Troll, to name a few. I currently have a hot Mermaid costume and of course a Fairy costume.
I actually bought candy this year. Normally, I would not have. I have not been home for Halloween in the past few years, so I did not know what the turnout would be. I was so excited. I bought Mini Reeses and a mix of Twix, Milky Way, Snickers and Three Musketeers minis. I waited excitedly with my candy in the bowl for the door to ring. At 6:35 the door rang and I hobbled off the couch and there was spider man, the grim reaper, a cat and a princess waiting for their chocolate goodies. And that was it. No More. Nada.
What happened to the hordes of goblins begging for chocolate? I remember going from like 4 pm until 9 ish, and sometimes would even change costumes and go back out for another round. It was a BIG DEAL. Of Course, I had enough candy for a month minimum! That is after getting rid of the yucky stuff I didn't like.
Well now I have a lot of candy to finish off not that I mind but it definitely makes my quest to cut sugar a more difficult one.
But going back to being anyone you want. Why do you have to wait for one day a year to be who you want. Be it now. I mean, I love bringing Mermaid Magic and Fairy Sparkles to my day to day life. Life is about being who you are. Every moment. It is who you are. Why wait till one day a year where you spend months or at least days planning a costume that will bring laughter as well as chills. Not saying dress up all year. But be who you are. Be who you wish to be all year. You are who you are. You don't need a holiday to be someone. You just have to create it.
Have fun with it. Dare to be someone remarkable.
