Beggars Can't Be Choosers
Today, while out running errands, I decided to go to McDonald's and get something to eat. I normally don't eat at McDonald's but I was hungry. I had a scan this morning and could not eat anything for hours before. I just wanted to go home but I was hungry.
As I walked into McDonald's, this woman asked me if I would help her get lunch. She said she was homeless and had not eaten. I wasn't sure I was going to order anything so I told her to wait a moment while I decided. I decided I would eat something and told her I would buy her a sandwich. If you can help someone, do it. I wasn't going to give her money, I was going to buy her something. So I asked her which sandwich she wanted and she said, "No I want Kentucky Fried Chicken across the street. Come, let's go there. It is right over there". I was taken aback. I was offering to buy her a meal and she wants something else? Since when do beggars become choosers. I said, " I am not going to KFC. I am here and will buy you something to eat if you want it, what would you like?" She said, " I really want Kentucky Fried Chicken". I walked up to the counter and placed my order not buying her anything. No telling how many people had offered to buy her something, but she was insisting on something else.
Why wasn't she at KFC asking someone to buy her something there rather than asking at McDonald's is beyond me.
Point is........ If you can help someone, do it.
Always offer generosity. It will give you a sense of peace and a great feeling. I felt great about offering her a meal, despite her ungratefulness.
Always come from your heart. You never know when you will be the one in need. If you need a smile, give one. If you need a hug, give one. It goes around and comes back to you.
Do something nice for someone, anyone today. See how great it makes you feel.
